ALFRED, NY – Junior Taylor Malone (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) of the Alfred University women's volleyball team was named one of the Empire 8 Women's Volleyball Co-Players of the Week on Monday afternoon.
 
Malone helped the Saxons to their first 3-0 start to a season since 2016. AU defeated SUNY Cobleskill in three sets, SUNY Morrisville in five sets with an incredible 24-22 fifth set score and St. Lawrence University in four sets. Malone totaled 35 kills with back-to-back 13-kill matches on Saturday. She added 11 digs, two block assists and two solo blocks along with one set assist. She was named to the SUNY Morrisville Invitational All-Tournament Team along with teammate, Carleigh Santavy (Commerce, MI/Walled Lake Northern).
 
Malone was also named a Saxon of the Week on Monday along with women's soccer's Julia Flaitz (Arkport, NY/Arkport Central).
