Julie Decker said. "We made some good plays but, unfortunately, couldn't string enough of them together to make a comeback. We are determined to keep getting better moving forward."
Hartwick relied on five early goals in the opening quarter to force Alfred University to play from behind. Hartwick scored twice in the second quarter before AU responded with a goal from Nitti during a man-down situation. Four additional goals from the Hawks had the Saxons trailing 13-2 going into halftime.
Hartwick scored twice to begin the third quarter before Booth scored her first goal of the afternoon. The defense held the Hawks without a goal across the final six minutes of the quarter but were still behind 15-3 with one quarter remaining. Booth was the lone Saxon to score in the fourth quarter, while Hartwick found the back of the net twice to hold on for the win.
