Franlys Valenzuela (Santiago de los Cabelleros, Dominican Republic/San Ysidro) was named one of the Empire 8 Men's Basketball Co-Players of the Week on Monday afternoon in an official announcement by Associate Commissioner,
Joe Venniro.
Valenzuela wrapped up a terrific week with the men's basketball team, who won three consecutive games against Houghton University, Russell Sage College and Hartwick College. Against Houghton, Valenzuela posted 12 points to go with a career-high 20 rebounds. On the defensive end, he was credited with two steals for the Saxons.
Later in the week against Russell Sage, Valenzuela contributed with eight points and 13 boards, shooting 4-of-7 from the field. Against Hartwick, Valenzuela recorded his ninth double-double of the season, totaling 18 points and 19 rebounds. Overall, Valenzuela totaled 38 points and 52 rebounds for the Saxons while shooting 46.7 percent from the field. Additionally, the 248 rebounds during the 2023-24 season for Valenzuela trails only

Valenzuela was also named a Saxon of the Week on Monday alongside of women's basketball's
