ALFRED, NY -- The Alfred University women's volleyball team dropped an Empire 8, four-set loss to visiting SUNY Geneseo on Saturday afternoon.
The Saxons (14-7, 6-3 Empire 8) forced the fourth set after dropping the first two sets, 24-23 and 25-11, respectively. They came back to defeat the Knights (9-13, 6-3 Empire 8) in the third set, 25-23 before Geneseo claimed the match with a 25-15 fourth set.
Carleigh Santavy (Commerce, MI/Walled Lake Northern) led the match with 16.0 points off of 15 kills and two block assists.
Taylor Malone (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) followed with 10.0 kills on nine kills and one ace.
Delaney Sims (Bogart, GA/George Walton Academy) had 30 set assists and 13 digs for her second double-double of the weekend.
Jamie Chun (Hilo, HI/Hilo) led the defense with 17 digs.
Cara Bratthauar (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg Area) had four block assists while Sims had three.
Jade Wolfer (Nunda, NY/Keshequa) had three service aces.
The Saxons have one more home match of the regular season as they host Nazareth University on Friday, November 1 at 6:00pm. The match is the Saxons' Saxon-for-Saxon event as well as senior night.
