BROCKPORT, NY - The Alfred University women's soccer team began their week with a 1-0 loss to SUNY Brockport on Wednesday night from A. Huntley Parker Jr. Field. 

"Unfortunate to not come away with a point tonight," Head Coach Craig Yanni said. "We started off slow, which put us in a early hole. The coaching staff needs to get back to work on what is going to put the team in the best position to be successful."

The Saxons were forced to play from behind after the Golden Eagles reached the back of the net in the 8th minute of the opening half. The first shot on goal for AU came from Lina Young (North Collins, NY/North Collins), but could not equalize before entering halftime with a 1-0 deficit. In the second half, Isabelle Dennis (Livonia, NY/Livonia) was the lone Saxon to record a shot on goal. The defense limited Brockport to just one shot on goal in the second half but could not force a draw before the end of regulation. 

Alfred University will next celebrate Senior Night on Saturday with a home game against SUNY Geneseo on Saturday at 6:00 PM.
