Carmine Hoag (Salamanca, NY/Salamanca) equalized the game. The touchdown reception for Hoag was the first of his collegiate career. In the following drive, the AU defense stepped up to force a turnover on downs on their own 25-yard line. Neither side got back on the scoreboard before entering halftime with a 7-7 tie. The Mustangs put up 14 points in the third quarter to force the Saxons offense to play from behind. The lone touchdown for AU in the second half came in the fourth quarter, as a five-yard rushing touchdown was credited to Kelly in the closing minute of regulation.
