ONEONTA, NY – The Alfred University men's swimming & diving team fell to Hartwick College by a score of 161-139 on Saturday, January 20th.
The Saxons (4-3, 1-1 Empire 8) dropped their first Empire 8 meet of the season, but will look to bounce back.
"It never feels good leaving Hartwick with a loss; they swim well in their pool." Head Coach Brian Striker '00 said. "Across the board, we were fatigued, which doesn't bode well when you swim and dive away, in close meets. That being said, it is a good sign of where we are, knowing how hard we have been working in the pool the past few weeks, and what we can do when we rest as we head into taper and fine tune things for our championships."
The 200-yard medley relay team of William LaMastus (Maumee, OH/Anthony Wayne), Wade LaMastus (Maumee, OH/Anthony Wayne), Emiliano Terrazas (La Paz, Bolivia/Saint Andrew's) and Colby Watkins (New Orleans, LA St. Martin's Episcopal) claimed the first win of the day with a time of 1:38.76.
Paul Tuttle (Irondequoit, NY Irondequoit) won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.11.
Colby Watkins won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.37.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Emmanuel Drappatz (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel Area), Fernando Lagos, Paul Tuttle, and Colby Watkins won the final event of the day with a time of 1:30.22.
