ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men's tennis team had a resounding victory against Medaille University by a score of 6-3 on Saturday afternoon at the William T. Brown Tennis Courts.

In doubles action, Walker Waldon (Wellsville, NY/Wellsville) and Bill Tran (Hanoi, Vietnam/Grace Christian) claimed the win in their match from the No. 2 spot. Matthew Hibbert (Oswego, NY/Oswego) and Mark Ungurian (Chornomorsk, Ukraine/School #6) won a nail-biting match 8-7 to give the Saxons the lead of 2-1 heading into singles. 

In singles play, Mike Roberts (Alfred Station, NY/Alfred-Almond) won in two sets from the No. 1 spot. Tran was also able to get the job done in two sets in his respective match from the No. 6 spot. In the No.4 spot, Ungurian took care of business in two sets as well. Finally, Waldon won in two sets from the No.3 spot, sealing the Saxon Men's Tennis victory over Medaille. 

"So proud of these guys today. Lot of chances to roll over but we stuck to it and were able to come out with a huge win. Massive shoutout to Mark, Walker, and Bill going 2-0 on the day. Evan and Tristan brought the energy all day and we couldn't have done it without them. Excited to get back out against Utica to finish our regular season" Head Coach Jordan Crouch said.

The Alfred University Men's Tennis team will resume action against Utica University at home at a date TBD.
