ROCHESTER, NY - The Alfred University women's lacrosse team was defeated by St. John Fisher University by a score of 25-3 on Wednesday afternoon at Growney Stadium. 

The Saxons (1-9, 1-3 Empire 8) came up short against the Cardinals (8-2, 2-0 Empire 8) in their fourth Empire 8 Conference matchup.

Kylee Bedette (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo) led the Saxons with two goals. Amelia Booth (Staatsburg, NY/FDR) was the only other Saxon to score with a goal and an assist. Hailey Stroh (Houghton, NY/Homeschool) also had an assist. Alyssa Piechota (Webster, NY/Webster) recorded nine saves for the Saxons. 

"It can be pretty intimidating going up against the #23 ranked team in the country. Regardless, we competed hard the entire game and kept a positive attitude. We're going to focus on the things we did well (that can't necessarily be seen in the stat book) and continue to build on all of those small victories." Head Coach Julie Decker said.

The Cardinals took an early lead of 10-0 in the first quarter and never looked back. Alfred University scored three goals, one coming in each of the next three quarters. 

Alfred University will next return home on Saturday, April 15 at 1:00 PM for their fifth Empire 8 Matchup against Hartwick College.
