ONEONTA, NY - The Alfred University men's lacrosse team scored seven goals in the fourth quarter as part of a 16-12 comeback win over Hartwick College on Saturday afternoon from Wright Stadium.
The Saxons (5-3, 1-0 Empire 8) were 2-of-4 in extra man opportunities, while defending 38 shots on goal from the Hawks (2-3, 0-1 Empire 8).
Justin Mosher (Hilton, NY/Hilton) finished with a team-high five points from three goals and two assists.
Paul Forte (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) totaled three goals and dished one assist.
Kevin Matson (Chenango Bridge, NY/Chenango Forks) added four points from two goals and two assists for AU.

Jason Lockner said. "Scott had a great day and we played with more poise in the second half as a team. I'm proud of these guys keeping their composure and getting the ball in the hands of the offense."
Forte was the first to score for the Saxons early in the first quarter. The Hawks responded with four goals of their own before entering the second quarter with a 4-1 lead. Matson found the back of the net for his first goal of the afternoon in the second quarter. A second goal from Forte was followed by a goal from
Drew Cartwright (Elmira, NY/Elmira) to cut the deficit.
Hunter Cupp (Bath, NY/Haverling) scored in the closing seconds of the first half for Alfred University, but the team still trailed 9-5 going into the break.
Hartwick scored twice to begin the second half before Forte completed the hat trick for AU. Mosher and
Marcus Darminio (Marcellus, NY/Marcellus) combined for three goals before the end of the third quarter, as the Saxons trailed 11-9 with one quarter remaining. A man-up goal from Mosher was followed by a goal from Matson to tie the game with 12:31 to play. Just over a minute later,
Josh Hauman (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) scored to give the Saxons their first lead. The Hawks tied the game once again with just over 10 minutes to play, but
Brendan Riley (Fairport, NY/Fairport) found the back of the net to give Alfred University the lead. Goals from Hauman, Cartwright and
Dawson Felenchak (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) were enough to extend the advantage and secure the victory.
"We will use this momentum as we travel up to Albany to play Russell Sage," Lockner said. "Justin played great today as he continues to lead the midfield."
Alfred University will next travel to compete against Russell Sage on Saturday, April 1 at 1:00 PM.
