GENEVA, NY – The Alfred University men's swimming & diving team earned a road win over Hobart College on Friday night.
The Saxons (3-2, 0-0 Empire 8) defeated the Statesmen (2-5, 0-0 Liberty League) by a score of 125-62.
"I thought we did well this evening after a great week of workouts. " Head Coach Brian Striker '00 said. "The divers continue to impress. There were also some great swims. The men got to swim some off events and there were some pretty good surprises. The women put up a great fight led by Mia and Sarah. All in all, we have put together a great Fall dual meet season. I am excited for our invitational in a couple of weeks!"
The 200-yard medley relay team of Wade LaMastus (Maumee, OH/Anthony Wayne), Alessandro Lagos Canales (Tegucigalpa, Honduras/Escuela e Instituo Lincoln), Ryaan Adnan Ali Rana (Springfield, VA/Karachi Grammar School), and Paul Tuttle (Irondequoit, NY Irondequoit) claimed first place with a time of 1:41.34.
Wade LaMastus won the 200-yard freestyle, while Ryaan Adnan Ali Rana was right behind in second place. Wade also won the 200-yard backstroke.
Alessandro Lagos Canales won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.17, while Nathan Sponenberg (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia) was not far behind in second with 23.38.
Phillip Volaski (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) won the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:05.78.
In diving, Lincoln diLorenzo (Cooperstown, NY/Cooperstown) won 3-meter diving with a score of 184.65.
William LaMastus (Maumee, OH/Anthony Wayne) won the 200-yard Butterfly with a time of 2:02.43.
Fernando Lagos (Tegucigalpa, Honduras/Escuela e Instituo Lincoln) won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 49.36.
The Saxons will next travel to take part in the Ithaca Invitational on the weekend of December 1st.
