ALFRED, NY – In an official announcement from Empire 8 Associate Commissioner, Joe Venniro on Monday, the conference named Alfred University's Robby Hicks (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) the E8 Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week.
 
Hicks played a large role in the Alfred University men's 85-61 win over Elmira College on Saturday. Off the bench, Hicks scored a career-high 18 points to go with two rebounds, shooting 7-of-10 from the field across 17 minutes. Hicks scored 12 of his points from beyond the arc, shooting 4-of-6 from 3-point range.
 
He was joined in the Empire 8 listings by William LaMastus (Maumee, OH/Anthony Wayne) as the Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week.
 
Hicks and the Saxons will next host Nazareth College on Friday, January 27 at 7:30pm in the Terry S. Galanis Family Arena.
