BRADFORD, PA - The Alfred University women's tennis team clinched their third straight victory during a 9-0 win over Pitt-Bradford on Thursday afternoon from the Kessel Athletic Complex.

"We have high expectations of our performance," Head Coach Jordan Crouch said. "I'm so excited to keep it moving forward in the future."
Alfred University set the tone early, as the play of Macy Youngberg (Falconer, NY/Falconer Central) and Alina Zabihailo (Kyiv, Ukraine/Educational Complex #143) resulted in an 8-0 victory from No. 1 doubles. Anna Gwozdz (South Wales, NY/Iroquois) and Eve Liu (Yantai, China/Wilbraham and Monson Academy) extended the lead for AU following an 8-1 win from No. 2 doubles. The Saxons rounded out doubles action with an 8-3 victory from Alexis Giordano (Lewiston, NY/Lewiston) and Claire Lander (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili).
In singles play, Zabihailo picked up the winning point for AU, winning 6-3, 6-0 from the top spot. The Saxons continued to play well throughout the afternoon, with Call and Youngberg each not allowing a point during their 6-0, 6-0 singles wins. Both Gwozdz and Liu earned singles victories as well, with Gwozdz winning 6-2, 6-2, while Liu won in 6-1, 6-4 fashion.
"I'm excited to see how this weekend goes with as many matches as we'll get to play. We have never really played any tournament-style matches like this before so it should be fun."
