ALFRED, NY – Casey Grange (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca), in her first collegiate season of play, was named the Empire 8 Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week on Monday in an official announcement by Associate Commissioner, Joe Venniro.
 
Grange upped her collegiate career-high marks during the York College (PA) Tri-Match. Her new career-high in points scored in a single match is 18.0 that included a career-high 17 kills. She added two block assists in the four-set loss to the hosts. Grange totaled 21.0 points, 20 kills, nine digs, two block assists and two set assists on the weekend.
 
Grange was also joined in the Empire 8 listings by Macy Youngberg (Falconer, NY/Falconer Central) as the Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the second week in a row and Max Freeman IV (Painted Post, NY/Corning-Painted Post) as the Football Co-Offensive Player of the Week. Both Youngberg and Freeman IV were the Saxons of the Week on Monday as well.
 
Grange and the Saxons will next open Empire 8 play with a trip to Houghton College on Friday, September 30 for a 7:00pm match.
