BUFFALO, NY – An early offensive start for Medaille College resulted in a 17-3 win over the Alfred University women's lacrosse team on Tuesday evening from the Medaille Sports Complex.
The Saxons (2-10) faced 26 shots on goal, while forcing the Mavericks (5-7) to 26 turnovers.
Brenna Turner (Bentonville, AR/Bentonville) led Alfred University with a team-high two goals across three shots.
Amelia Booth (Staatsburg, NY/FDR) scored once while picking up two ground balls.
Hailey Stroh (Houghton, NY/Homeschool) dished two assists for AU.
Medaille scored nine consecutive goals before an assist from Stroh to Turner got Alfred on the board in the early stages of the second quarter. Moments later, AU found its own sense of offensive rhythm as Booth found the back of the net. The Mavericks answered with two goals of their own to carry an 11-2 advantage over the Saxons at the break.
The Mavericks scored quickly to begin the second half, but both sides remained scoreless for over seven minutes of action before Turner scored her second goal of the game. Medaille scored on five more occasions to distance their lead and ultimately seal the game.
Alfred University will next return home to host their final home game of the regular season against St. John Fisher on Wednesday at 4:00 PM.
