Men's Hoops Eclipses Wolves in 106-68 Victory

ALFRED, NY – A collective scoring effort from the Alfred University men's basketball team resulted in a 106-68 win over Keuka College on Tuesday night from the Terry S. Galanis Family Arena.

Five different Saxons (12-7, 5-5 Empire 8) scored double-digit points in the victory. Alfred University won the rebound battle against the Wolves (1-13, 1-5 Empire 8) by a 57-33 margin.

Brewster Marshall (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) led the Saxons with a career-high 31 points to go with 12 rebounds and two blocks. Cole Eells (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca) totaled 12 points along with nine boards and three steals. Adam Enders (Belfast, NY/Belfast) finished with 11 points, four rebounds, and two assists off the bench.

"Our only expectation was to play hard and I thought our guys did just that," Head Coach Erich Kaempffe said. "Keuka is a very good and we have a lot of respect for them."

The Saxons relied on their forwards early on, as Elliot Bowen (Salamanca, NY/Ellicotville) and Marshall scored eight of the team's opening ten points. Consecutive three-point shots from Enders had AU leading by 10 points at the 11:25 mark of the first half. Nine straight points from Marshall extended the team's lead to 17 points. Keuka landed a few three-point shots in the closing minutes of the first half, but the Saxons still led 53-36 at the break. Kevin Durkin (Buffalo, NY/St. Joseph's Collegiate) set the tone for the Saxons to open the second half, as he hit three consecutive three-point shots to extend AU's lead to 24 points. A 14-2 run by Alfred University distanced their lead, as the team relied on their depth to seal the victory.

"We're excited for the challenge of playing Keuka College once again and look forward to playing as hard as possible tomorrow night," Kaempffe said.

Alfred University will next travel to play Keuka College as part of a back-to-back series. Tip-off is scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM.
