Jon Nadolne (Port Washington, NY/Albertson ECNL) picked up two saves in the win for AU.
"This season was a rollercoaster," Graduate Assistant Coach
Andrew Barnikel said. "Each week brought its highs and lows. The guys learned a lot this season about the proper passion, commitment, desire, and courage necessary to be successful at this level. We brought all that learning together to this last game and our abilities showed. This game set a tone for next season. Congratulations to all our seniors on a fantastic career. Swords forward!
The Saxons wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, as a pass from
Chase Freeland (Hornell, NY/Hornell) to Scriven found its way to the back of the net, giving Alfred University the early 1-0 advantage. The defense for AU successfully defended two shots on target from Keuka before they eventually scored an equalizing goal just before halftime. In the second half, a penalty kick goal for Holbrook in the 62nd minute put the Saxons ahead, 2-1. The defense allowed just two shots in the final half before securing the victory.
