ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University football team received recognition from the Empire 8, as Christopher Cox (Rochester, NY/Pittsford-Sutherland) was named Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon, after an official announcement from Associate Commissioner, Joe Venniro.
 
Cox led a Saxon defense that kept Hartwick College out of the endzone in a 21-6 road win. Cox finished the game with four solo tackles and was also credited with an interception in the fourth quarter that was returned 32 yards for a touchdown. The interception marked the second of Cox's career.
 
Cox and the Saxons will next host Empire 8 foe, St. John Fisher University, in a conference matchup on Saturday with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 PM.
