ALFRED, NY - The Alfred University men's soccer team dropped a 5-0 non-conference matchup to Fredonia on Tuesday evening at Yunevich Stadium.
 
The Saxons (1-5-2, 0-1-0 Empire 8) finished with 13 shots with three of them being on goal. First-year goalkeeper Steven Morrow (Dryden, NY/Dryden) made three saves in Tuesday's matchup.
 
"We are not learning from our recent history, and we keep making the same mistakes because of it," Head Coach Tracy Blake said. "The players need to recognize their errors and work on eliminating them. We will move forward tomorrow and hopefully fix it for the Sage game this weekend."
 
The Blue Devils were able to get things rolling for themselves early in the game with a 3-0 lead in the first half, with their first scoring occurring just lest than three minutes into regulation off a solo score by Domenic Monti. In the second half the Blue Devils were able to put up two more goals to close out the contest.
 
There were moments throughout the game where the Saxons had their opportunities to get on the board, they were just off on some of their shot attempts. In particular, an offensive opportunity came for AU in the 66^th minute of play when William Moore (Stormville, NY/John Jay) found an open net after a scramble inside of the Fredonia 18-yard line with his shot just inching past the right post.
 
AU will next host Russell Sage College on Saturday, September 25 at 4:00pm in Empire 8 conference action.
