ALFRED, NY – The list of Alfred University women's volleyball players that have been named Empire 8 Rookie of the Week grew once more on Tuesday afternoon as
Honor Edmands (Reno, NV/Reno) picked up her second recognition this season, as made official in an announcement by Associate Commissioner,
Joe Venniro.
Â
Edmands first was named the Empire 8 Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week on March 23 and was followed by
Jamie Chun (Hilo, HI/Hilo) the following week as this is now three weeks in a row that a Saxon has taken that award. Despite a shortened season, this week's award now ties the program record for most overall weekly honors from the Empire 8 in one season, making it the third time it's happened.
Â
Edmands hit an impressive .333 hitting percentage in Saturday's Empire 8 win on the road at Russell Sage College. She had 10 kills on 21 attacks with only three errors and added a service ace for 11.0 points in the three-set victory. Edmands added six digs on the day as well.
Â
Edmands joins Monday's announcement of
Leah Harkenrider (Hornell, NY/Hornell) of the women's basketball team as she was also the E8 Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week. Edmands was also one of the two Saxons of the Week alongside football's
Jeremiah Young (Buffalo, NY/Canisius) on Monday.
