HOUGHTON, NY – The Alfred University women's tennis team wrapped up the 2021 season with a pair of Saturday losses to Houghton and Hartwick at the Kerr-Pegula Field House. The Saxons (0-6, 0-6 Empire 8) fell to Houghton (2-3, 2-3 Empire 8) 7-0, then dropped a 3-1 decision to Hartwick (1-4, 1-4 Empire 8).
 
The lone victory of the day came via senior Cassondra Mark (Prattsburgh, NY/Prattsburgh Central). Playing in her final collegiate match, the senior left it all on the court, outlasting Hartwick's Cierra Barkley 8-1. She also teamed up with sophomore Kailey Reyes (Dallas, TX/Trinity), falling to Hartwick's Jade Killikelly and Victoria Wilson by a slim 8-6 margin in the lone doubles match.
 
Against Houghton, Mark and first year Anna Gwozdz (South Wales, NY/Iroquois) each earned three points in 8-3 losses to Chloe Esch and Elise Swanson in third and first singles, respectively.
 
"Today marks the end of our season," said head coach Jordan Crouch. "I'm extremely proud of the group that competed today. They've worked diligently and tirelessly to improve themselves and their teammates. Congrats to Casey who won her last-ever college match. We're proud of you and can't wait to see how far life takes you. For Kailey and Anna, we've already been talking about an offseason workout plan. August can't come soon enough. Go Saxons!"
