HOUGHTON, NY – The Alfred University women's tennis team wrapped up the 2021 season with a pair of Saturday losses to Houghton and Hartwick at the Kerr-Pegula Field House. The Saxons (0-6, 0-6 Empire 8) fell to Houghton (2-3, 2-3 Empire 8) 7-0, then dropped a 3-1 decision to Hartwick (1-4, 1-4 Empire 8).
The lone victory of the day came via senior
Cassondra Mark (Prattsburgh, NY/Prattsburgh Central). Playing in her final collegiate match, the senior left it all on the court, outlasting Hartwick's Cierra Barkley 8-1. She also teamed up with sophomore
Kailey Reyes (Dallas, TX/Trinity), falling to Hartwick's Jade Killikelly and Victoria Wilson by a slim 8-6 margin in the lone doubles match.
Against Houghton, Mark and first year
Anna Gwozdz (South Wales, NY/Iroquois) each earned three points in 8-3 losses to Chloe Esch and Elise Swanson in third and first singles, respectively.
