Crouch was named as the 15th Head Coach in men's tennis history and the 14th Head Coach in women's tennis history in the summer prior to the 2018-19 season. Crouch also serves as the Athletic department's Life Skills Coordinator with the position changing to Saxon Success Mentoring Program Coordinator in 2022. In the summer of 2023, Crouch was named the Intramural Coordinator at AU.
During the 2023-24 season, Crouch and the Alfred University women's tennis team captured the program's first Empire 8 title since the 2004 undefeated team. The team finished with a 13-2 overall record, including a 5-1 finish in Empire 8 competition. In the postseason, the Saxons defeated Nazareth University and St. John Fisher University to claim the Championship. Over the course of the season, Crouch saw both
Abigail Call and
Macy Youngberg eclipse 50 career wins.
Elizabeth Madsen was among the standout Saxons in the fall campaign, ranking third in program history with 23 total wins and was ultimately named as the Empire 8 Tournament Most Valuable Player. The team later earned a bid to the NCAA Regional Championship, where they competed against #16 University of Redlands.
In his first season at the helm for Alfred University, Crouch led both the men's and women's teams to the Empire 8 Championship tournament. It marked the first instance in which both teams made it to the Empire 8 Championships in program history. During the 2020-21 season, the men's team won their first Empire 8 Championship match since the 2005 season.
During the 2022-23 season, Crouch led the women's team back to the Empire 8 Championship Semifinals in what marked a historic campaign.
Macy Youngberg and
Alina Zabihailo were among the standouts, combining for 53 total wins on the season and are currently ranked at the top in program history in regards to single season wins in singles and doubles action.
Crouch comes to AU following a four-year tennis career at Houghton College, a fellow member of the Empire 8 Conference. He was a three-time Empire All-Conference honoree, earning Second Team honors in singles and doubles in 2017-18 as well as Second Team singles in 2016-17. During his senior campaign he posted a 9-3 overall singles record, including a 7-1 record in Empire 8 play, helping the Highlanders to the Empire 8 Championship match for the first time in program history. He added to his win total, going 9-4 in doubles play during his senior year.
Within the Life Skills Coordinator role, Crouch’s focus is to strengthen retention rates among the University's student-athletes, which in the first-year typically number well over 200. Student-athletes within the program will learn basic life and study skills that will help them succeed within a college environment.
While at Houghton, Crouch played four years of men’s tennis, two years of men’s basketball and one year of men’s soccer. He graduated from Houghton in 2018 with a degree in Sport Recreation and Wellness with a minor in Coach and Sports Ministry. Crouch is local to the Alfred area, graduating from Fillmore Central School in Fillmore, NY.
