ALFRED, NY- Points from 12 different players on the Alfred University men's lacrosse team resulted in a 17-3 victory over Sage College on Wednesday from Yunevich Stadium. It marked Alfred's third consecutive victory of the spring season, as they improved to a 3-0 (1-0 Empire 8) overall record, while Gators fell to 0-1 (0-1 Empire 8).
Graduate defender
Shane Weber (Hull, MA/Hull) was responsible for a team-high six caused turnovers to go with 13 ground balls and one goal. Weber has recorded 140 career caused turnovers with the Saxons; three shy of the program record.
Alfred enjoyed a 72-20 shot advantage and forced 30 turnovers.
Senior midfielder Garrette Briggs (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) won 21-of-22 face-off opportunities for the Saxons and picked up 13 ground balls. Sophomore attack
Paul Forte (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) and junior attack
Adrian Romero (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) each scored three goals and combined for four assists. Junior goalie
Scott Kimiecik (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) recorded seven saves and limited Sage to only two goals through three quarters of action.

Alfred set the tone early on, as sophomore midfielder
Dawson Felenchak (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) scored the opening goal for the Saxons 72 seconds into the first quarter. Sophomore attack
Justin Mosher (Hilton, NY/Hilton) followed it up by finding the back of the net less than three minutes later. The Gators scored their first goal at the 8:02 mark of the first quarter, but Alfred retaliated with goals from sophomore attack
Trevor Gilliard (Rochester, NY/Odyssey Academy) and junior attack
Noah Soriano (Valley Cottage, NY/Nyack) to take a 4-1 lead at the end of the first.
The Saxons relied on goals from Romero, sophomore midfielder
Andrew Schuhwek (Weymouth, MA/Weymouth), and sophomore midfielder
Noah Germano (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) in the second quarter to take a 7-2 advantage going into the break.
Alfred continued to apply pressure to open the second half, as first-year midfielder
Josh Hauman (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) and junior midfielder
Jonathan Kay (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) were among six Saxons to record a goal. The Gators found their first goal of the second half at the 13:51 mark of the final quarter, but Alfred finished the game with three unanswered goals from Forte and Romero.
"We did a lot of things the right way," Lockner said. "We're going to continue to work hard, but our team deserves a lot of credit for today's effort."
The Saxons will next end their four-game home series against Nazareth on Wednesday at 4pm from Yunevich Stadium.
