ALFRED, NY – First-year Anne Spila (Mechanicsburg, PA/Trinity) made her collegiate entrance on Friday which resulted in her being named the Empire 8 Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, as made official in an announcement by Associate Commissioner, Joe Venniro on Monday afternoon.
 
Spila averaged almost a point a minute, scoring seven points in 11 minutes as the Saxons blew past SUNY Cobleskill, 71-47. She was 2-for-4 from the floor and a perfect 3-for-3 from the free throw line. Spila added three offensive rebounds, two defensive rebounds, an assist and a steal in the win.
 
Spila and the Saxons will next host the Lakers of Oswego State on Tuesday, November 9 at 7:00pm from the Terry S. Galanis Family Arena.
