ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men's swimming & diving team won every event on Friday evening from the McLane Natatorium against University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, forcing exhibition results in a 131-46 win.
The 200-yard medley relay team of
Colby Watkins (New Orleans, LA/St. Martin's Episcopal), Emiliano Terrazas (La Paz, Bolivia/Saint Andrew's),
Fernando Lagos (Tegucigalpa, Honduras/Escuela e Instituo Lincoln) and
Alessandro Lagos Canales (Tegucigalpa, Honduras/Escuela e Instituo Lincoln) got things rolling with a 1:40.28 win.
Andrew Guariglia (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream South) and
Lucas Crane (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) finished first and second in the 1,000-yard freestyle right after the relay.
Jordan Fixsen (Fairport, NY/Penfield), Watkins and Lagos Canales had the one-two-three finish in the 200-yard freestyle as Fixsen swam a 1:52.59, edging Watkins by 0.01 seconds. Terrazas and Yates took the top two spots in the 50-yard freestyle, swimming 23.00 and 23.65, respectively.
Wade LaMastus (Maumee, OH/Anthony Wayne), Justin Jarmer (Flagstaff, AZ/Northland Preparatory Academy) and
Colin Schultz (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) cleared the 200-yard individual medley with LaMastus leading with a 2:09.80. Fixsen and
Owen Nelson (Amherst, NY/Amherst) took gold and silver in the 100-yard butterfly. Fixsen went sub-minute with a time of 58.33.
Tyler Kemmet (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville), Mark Brown (Olean, NY/Olean) and
Aidan Kirk (Lockport, NY/Starpoint) swept the 100-yard freestyle, all with times under a minute as Kemmet swam a leading time of 54.16.
Paul Tuttle (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit), Watkins and LaMastus followed with another Saxon sweep in the 100-yard backstroke. Tuttle swam a 54.29. The sweep introduced the exhibition results for AU.
The Saxons will next compete in a tri-meet against Fredonia and the host institution, University of Rochester on Saturday, November 13 at noon.
