BROCKPORT, NY – The Alfred University football team ended its season with a 38-0 loss to SUNY Brockport on Saturday afternoon.
The Saxons (5-5, 4-4 Empire 8) gave up 28 points in the third quarter after facing a 10-0 halftime deficit.
Jeremiah Young (Buffalo, NY/Canisius) led AU's defense with 11 tackles on the day including seven solo stops. Both were game-highs. He also had a forced fumble and a pass break-up.
Joe Copp (Minoa, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa)followed with seven tackles.
Offensively,
Kevin Bragaglia (Holbrook, NY/Sachem North) led with 56 net yards on 15 attempts.
Neil Peters (The Bronx, NY/DeWitt Clinton) totaled 303 yards in punting on his eight attempts with a game-high of 55 yards, punting twice above 50 yards and putting two inside of the Brockport 20-yard line.
Out of the six scoring plays from Brockport, only two of them were from drives of five or more plays with all of their scoring drives consuming around nine minutes of clock.
Both teams struggled on the passing game as neither had more than 60 yards through the air. Both teams also had difficulties on third down conversions as AU was 3-of-17 while Brockport was 4-of-16. The Golden Eagles had five opportunities in the red-zone while AU never got inside of the Brockport 20-yard line.
