ROCHESTER, NY – The Alfred University men's soccer team fell on the road in Empire 8 action to St. John Fisher College, 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals (4-6-3, 3-2-1 Empire 8) got a goal in the 18
th minute off a corner kick that ultimately went on to become the game-winning score. The Saxons (3-10-2, 2-5-0 Empire 8) had the majority of the offensive pressure in the second half, out-shooting SJF 8-3 in the final 45 minutes while Fisher had the advantage in the first half, 8-2. The biggest disadvantage in team comparison stats was in corner kicks as Fisher had seven in the first half and eight overall while AU had a corner opportunity once in the second half.

"Hard fought game today that ended in a loss," Head Coach
Tracy Blake said. "We just didn't create enough clear-cut chances to get one on the board."

Jadon Schlierf had five saves for the Cardinals while
Daniel Koenig (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay) had three for the Saxons. AU's offensive efforts were led by
Michael Walther (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) with two shots on goal as well as
Gavin Harrington (Elmira, NY/Notre Dame) and
Henry Smith (Manassas, VA/Lancaster) who both had two shots with one on goal.

The Saxons will next close out the regular season as they host Keuka College on Saturday, October 30 at 1:00pm.
