GENESEO, NY – The Alfred University men's lacrosse team traveled to SUNY Geneseo on Thursday for a non-conference matchup with the Knights.
The Saxons (3-3, 0-0 Empire 8) fell by a score of 13-6 to Geneseo.
Alfred took a quick 2-0 lead thanks to back-to-back goals by
Connor DiDomineck (Bath, NY / Haverling) and
Noah Soriano (Nyack, NY / Nyack) in the first three minutes of the game.
Geneseo worked its way back into the game and tied it at two with a goal in the last five seconds of the first quarter.
The teams traded goals to open the second quarter to make it 3-3 followed by another score by the Knights to make it a 4-3 game at halftime.
Geneseo commanded the third quarter and outscored AU 5-1 to take a five goal lead into the final quarter.
The Saxons added three goals in the fourth quarter but were unable to slow the Geneseo attack to send Alfred to its third loss on the season.
Cale Donegan (Corning, NY / Corning-Painted Post), Paul Forte (Greece, NY / Greece Athena), Zack Gibaud (Greece, NY / Greece Athena), Jake McNaney (Corning, NY / Corning-Painted Post) and
Jonathan Kay (Webster, NY / Webster Schroeder) also all scored one goal.
Shane Weber (Hull, MA / Hull) had a team high two assists.
Alfred will have some time off before hosting Thiel College on March 21
st.
