ALLENTOWN, PA – The Alfred University women's lacrosse team opened its season on Saturday afternoon with a road matchup with Cedar Crest College.
 
 
The Saxons (0-1, 0-0 Empire 8) dropped their opener to the Falcons by a score of 12-2.
 
 
AU found itself down 6-0 in the first half until senior Hannah McNamara (Alden, NY / Alden) gave the Saxons their first goal of the season off of a free position shot with 10:52 to play.
 
 
Cedar Crest tacked on two more scores and went into the half leading Alfred 8-1.
 
 
After an early second half goal by the Falcons, Bella Ehms (West Seneca, NY / West Seneca West) scored for Alfred at the 24-14 mark making the score 9-2.
 
The scoring ended there for AU as Cedar Crest scored three more unanswered to end the game and pick up the win over the Saxons.
 
 
Alfred will host Chatham University next Saturday in its home opener at 1PM.
