PITTSFORD, NY – The Alfred University women's basketball team played at Nazareth College on Friday evening.
 
 
The Saxons (5-14, 1-7) were defeated by the Golden Flyers by a score of 58-37.
 
 
Nazareth controlled this one from the start as they managed a 16-4 lead over Alfred after the first quarter.
 
 
The second quarter was equally difficult for AU on both ends of the floor and the Golden Flyers held a 34-11 halftime lead.
 
 
The Saxons improved their play in the third quarter and cut the lead down to 18 at one point but they were never close enough to make this one competitive at the end.
 
 
Ana Ion (Bucharest, Romania / Episcopal of Jacksonville) was the lone Saxon to score in double figures with 11 points.
 
 
Lyndsey McCoy (Middleburgh, NY / Middleburgh Central) scored seven and led the team with three assists.
 
 
Alfred will be at St. John Fisher College on Saturday to take on the Empire 8 leading Cardinals at 4PM.
