PITTSFORD, NY – The Alfred University men's basketball team was at Nazareth College on Friday evening.
 
 
After defeating the Golden Flyers in a thrilling overtime victory on January 11^th, the Saxons (9-10, 3-5 Empire 8) looked like a very different team in this one.
 
 
After a close opening 10 minutes of play, Nazareth went on a 20-2 run to take a 42-23 lead over AU.
 
 
A couple of Sam Dagon (Hornell, NY / Hornell) buckets cut the deficit back to 14 points at halftime.
 
 
The closes Alfred was able to get throughout the entire second half was at the 15:06 mark when it was a 13 point game.
 
 
A Nazareth three pointer with 6:26 to play in the second half gave the Golden Flyers their largest lead of the game of 28 points.
 
 
At the end of the day Nazareth was able to control much of the contest and avenge its earlier road loss to the Saxons by a score of 92-66.
 
 
Dagon put up a team high 21 points while Darren Miller (Seneca Falls, NY / Mynderse) continued his string of breakout performances with a career high 20 points. Miller also grabbed seven rebounds to lead Alfred.
 
 
AU will stay in the Rochester area for a matchup with St. John Fisher College on Saturday at 2PM.
