Andy Edmister (Belmont, NY/Genesee Valley Central) was named the Empire 8 Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week on Monday in an official announcement from Associate Commissioner,
Joe Venniro.
Edmister had a strong week as he won every individual race he competed in the three meets against Empire 8 opponents, Utica College and Hartwick College and Division II Le Moyne College. He started his week with two backstroke wins against Le Moyne, winning both the backstroke events with times of 55.47 in the 100 and a 2:00.57 in the 200. He won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.81 against Utica and he won the 100 free in his first appearance at the collegiate level with a time of 49.75. In the final event against Utica, Alfred University had three teams competing in the 200-yard freestyle relay as they were uncontested against the Pioneers. Edmister joined the other three Andrews on the team to post the top time of 1:37.02. Edmister won both backstroke events against Hartwick College on Saturday with a 55.15 in the 100 and a 2:01.04 in the 200.
Edmister was also tabbed a Saxon of the Week along with fellow backstroke swimmer,
Lauren Serotta (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) of the women's team on Monday.
