BRADFORD, PA – The Alfred University women's tennis team fell to Pitt.-Bradford on the final match of the day on Saturday, 5-4 in non-conference action.

The match was tied, 4-4 with the final singles match still being played.
Kailey Reyes (Dallas, TX/Trinity) fell in the first set, 2-6 but came back to win the second set, 6-3. In the third set tiebreaker, Aaliyah Smith of Pitt.-Bradford came out on top at No. 4 singles, 10-4 to claim the match for the hosts.

The Saxons (0-3, 0-0 Empire 8) were down after doubles, 1-2 after
Tori Pellegrino (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) and
Amber Smith (Prattsburgh, NY/Prattsburgh Central) took the 8-4 win at the No. 1 spot. The No. 2 doubles team of Reyes and
Lauren Boshart (Oswego, NY/Oswego) had a close match but fell in a tiebreaker to Smith and Abbie Buerkle, 7(8)-8.

Pellegrino, Boshart and Smith all won their singles matches in the second portion of the non-conference meeting. Pellegrino won at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-4, Boshart took No. 2, 6-1, 6-1 and Smith claimed No. 3, 6-1, 6-2.

The Saxons will next have one more non-conference match before Empire 8 play begins as they travel to Fredonia on Tuesday, September 10 for a 4p.m. match start. Then, they host Nazareth College on Friday, September 13 for a 4p.m. conference match.
