TROY, NY – The Alfred University men's tennis team (5-4, Empire 8 3-2) prolonged its win-streak to three with a 9-0 victory over Empire 8 opponent Sage on Saturday.

The Saxons dominated in doubles play for the second consecutive night, taking the 3-0 lead off the bat. The sophomore duo of
Logan Cross (Olean, NY/Olean) and
Ryan Brown (Olean, NY/Olean) took #1 doubles 8-5. Seniors
Kyle Kemper (Oswego, NY/Oswego) and
Peter Smock (Prattsburgh, NY/Prattsburgh) took #2 doubles 8-4 while junior
Reeder Bruffey (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) and
Adam Shearer (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) took #3 doubles 8-4.

The Saxons needed only two wins in singles play to seal their third consecutive win. Smock Took #1 singles with ease, 6-0, 6-1 while Brown won at #3 singles 6-2, 6-2. Cross won #2 singles 6-2, 6-3 before Kemper took #4 singles 6-2, 6-1.
John Papin (Rochester, NY/The Harley School) and Bruffey took the final two matches to seal the sweep 7-5, 6-4 and 6-3, 6-1, respectively.
