ONEONTA, NY – The Alfred University men's lacrosse team traveled to Hartwick College on Saturday for an Empire 8 matchup with the Hawks. The Saxons (8-5, 4-2) fell to Hartwick by a score of 12-4 for their second conference loss of the season.

Hartwick jumped out to a commanding lead in the first quarter, outscoring AU 7-0 in the first 15 minutes.Â

The Hawks extended their lead in the opening minutes of the second quarter beforeÂ
Anthony Ricottilli (Cortland, NY/Cortland)Â put Alfred on the board with 11:23 left in the first half to make the score 8-1.

The Hawks tacked on one more goal during the final minute of the half to make it 9-1 at the break.

Cale Donegan (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post)Â andÂ
Joe Fornataro (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena)Â each scored for the Saxons in the third quarter while Hartwick scored just once in the period. AU trailed Hartwick 10-3 after three quarters of play.

Patrick Brewer (Bath, NY/Haverling)Â scored his 20
thgoal of the season in the fourth quarter but Hartwick added two more and ran away with the comfortable victory to make its record 6-1 in the Empire 8 this year.Â

Donegan ended with a goal and an assist to add to his team leading 68 points this season.Â
Garrette Briggs (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads)Â was 12-17 on faceoffs and picked up eight ground balls.Â
Scott Kimiecik (Randolph, NJ/Randolph)Â played the majority of the game in the net for Alfred and finished with three saves.

The Saxons will be on the road this upcoming Wednesday for another tough game against the St. John Fisher Cardinals at 4PM.Â
