ELMIRA, NY – The Alfred University women's lacrosse team dropped an Empire 8 game on Saturday afternoon at Elmira College. The Saxons (1-9, 0-5 Empire 8) fell to the Soaring Eagles by a score of 22-2.

Taylor Miller (Medina, NY/Medina) put the Saxons on the board during the first half to make it a 5-1 game at the 23:55 mark.

The Soaring Eagles would tack four more on before
Madison Latranyi (Danville, PA/Danville Area) converted her team leading 23d goal of the season to make it 9-2 around the halfway point of the first half. At the end of the first half, Elmira led Alfred 13-2.

Unfortunately for the Saxons, the scoring ended in that first half as AU was forced to play multiple players-down due to injury.

Latranyi also had two caused turnovers on the day and three ground balls. Miller ended with four draw controls and three ground balls.
Paige Rowlee (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) had 16 saves in 60 minutes.

AU will travel to D'Youville College on Tuesday night for a matchup with the Spartans at 6PM.
