HOUGHTON, NY – The Alfred University men's tennis team (2-3, Empire 8 0-1) fell to Stevens 9-0 at Houghton on Saturday afternoon to open Empire 8 play.

The Saxons fell in straight suit in doubles play. The duo of
Ryan Brown (Olean, NY/Olean) and
Logan Cross (Olean, NY/Olean) battled to an 8-2 decision at #1 doubles while senior
Kyle Kemper (Oswego, NY/Oswego) and junior
John Papin (Rochester, NY/The Harley School) fell the fate at #2 doubles.

Kemper contended in the #3 singles match, falling 6-2, 6-3 while junior
Reeder Bruffey (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) took the #5 match to a 6-2, 6-1 decision.
"Today was a great experience for our team," Head Coach
Jordan Crouch said. "Stevens is a very tough program and we got to practice all of things we've been working on. We definitely got better today and I'm excited for our future!"

The Saxons turn their sights to the Highlanders of Houghton College who will travel to Alfred, NY on April 3 at 4PM.
