ALFRED, NY -- The Alfred University men's basketball team now has been honored five times by the Empire 8 Athletic Conference during its weekly awards selections every Monday. First-year
Elliot Bowen (Salamanca, NY/Ellicotville) picked up his second Rookie of the Week recognition on Monday.
Bowen and fellow first-year forward,
Brewster Marshall (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) have combined for five Empire 8 Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week honors during the 2018-19 season. Marshall has also earned two Saxons of the Week honors while Bowen was tabbed once.
Bowen held a double-digit average on the Saxons' 2-0 week. He went 5-for-8 with the and-one free throw on Friday at Hartwick College for 11 points while pulling down three rebounds and recording one assist on the evening. He then capped off his week with a 5-of-7 performance from the floor and adding a 5-of-6 show from the free throw line against Elmira College. Bowen tacked on another three rebounds and one assist but also recorded a steal and a block on the day.
Bowen and the Saxons will next go on a four-game home stand that begins on Tuesday, February 5 at 7:30PM when they host the Cardinals of St. John Fisher College in Empire 8 action in the Terry S. Galanis Family Arena.
