ROCHESTER, NY – The Alfred University men's swimming & diving team fell in its first Empire 8 meet to Nazareth on the road, 88-155.

The Saxons were led by
Noah Koltenuk (Danville, PA/Danville Area), Dylan Canaveral (Queens, NY),
Logan Cross (Olean, NY/Olean) and
Phillip Volaski (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) on the day as Koltenuk had two wins, Canaveral had a win and a second place finish, Cross finished second in both diving events and Volaski had two individual second places and one relay second place.

Koltenuk led the Saxons with a time of 8:55.75 in the 800-meter freestyle and a 4:18.40 in the 400-free. Canaveral won the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:00.42. He also teamed with
Ryan Brown (Olean, NY/Olean), Yunneng Du (Yorktown, VA/Tabb) and
Bailey Roes (Pittsford, NY/Mendon) in the 200-meter freestyle relay to take second with a time of 1:43.19, edging out Nazareth's B-team's time of 1:43.38.

Cross hit a score of 245.70 on the 3-meter board while scoring a 243.35 on the 1-meter board to pick up his two second place finishes. "The divers did really well today with a huge improvement from our first meet. They have been working hard and it is paying off," Head Coach
Brian Striker '00 said. "Noah [Koltenuk] led the way in the swimming events with two great distance swims for this early in a season. Our first-year swimmers also had a good meet and have shown positive growth in just a short period of time."

Volaski recorded a time of 1:01.20 in the 100-meter backstroke and a time of 2:14.79 in the 200-meter individual medley for his two individual second place finishes. He then teamed with
Justin Jarmer (Flagstaff, AZ/Northland Preparatory Academy), Vincent Tamplain (Luling, LA/Hahnville) and Du in the 200-meter medley relay. They combined for a time of 1:54.17 to finish second.

Jarmer also picked up a second place finish on the day as he was closely followed by
Colin Schultz (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) in the 100-meter breaststroke. Jarmer swam a 1:11.08 while Schultz took third with a 1:11.68.

The Saxon will next host the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on Friday, November 8 for a 6 p.m. meet start.
