ALFRED, NY -- For the second time during the 2018-19 season, first-year
Brewster Marshall (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) of the Alfred University men's basketball team was named the Empire 8 Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week during an announcement on Monday afternoon.
Marshall helped the Saxons go 3-0 on the week as he averaged 12.7 points and 6.4 rebounds a game while compiling a field goal shooting percentage of 0.652 from the floor and making 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. He scored a collegiate career-high 16 points against Hartwick College on Saturday as he hit 6-of-10 (one 3-pointer) and tacked on three free throws. Earlier in the week, Marshall scored 13 points on the road at Houghton College, going 5-for-8 and 3-for-5 from the charity stripe. Tuesday and Saturday's games were his fourth and fifth game with double-digit scoring. Marshall had five rebounds against Houghton while pulling down seven in both home games against Utica College and Hartwick. He added two blocks against Hartwick and one steal against Houghton to cap off the undefeated week.
Marshall was also named one of the Saxons of the Week, joined by women's swimming & diving's
Lauren Serotta (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna). He and the Saxons will next travel to Nazareth College for Empire 8 action on Tuesday, January 15 at 7:30PM.
