HOBOKEN, NJ – The Alfred University men's tennis team fell on the road to Empire 8 foe, Stevens Institute of Technology, 9-0 on Saturday morning.

The Saxons (0-5, 0-2 Empire 8) had a close battle at No. 1 doubles as
Peter Smock (Prattsburgh, NY/Prattsburgh) and
Mike Wisniewski (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville East) took
Kyle Henry and
Mark Kanevsky to an 8-4 decision, in favor of the #16 Northeast Regional (as of March 28, 2018) ranked Ducks.

"We fought against a really hard team today," Head Coach
Mike Graham said. "We came out strong in doubles and showed great improvement overall."

Smock then matched up with
Danny Polk of Stevens who is ranked #24 in the Northeast Region in singles. The two played at the No. 2 singles spot where Polk prevailed, 6-1, 6-2.
Ryan Brown (Olean, NY/Olean) had a strong first set at No. 4 singles where he faced
Dave Schulz. Brown fell, 6-2, 6-0.

The Saxons are next scheduled to host Penn State Behrend on Sunday, April 8 at 1PM. The site of play has been moved to the indoor tennis courts at St. Bonaventure University.
