HOBOKEN, NJ – The Alfred University men's lacrosse team fell to No. 14 nationally-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday on the road, 17-8.
The Saxons (8-6, 4-2 Empire 8) had a slow start as Stevens outscored them 10-1 in the first half. Alfred put together seven goals in the second half with five in the fourth quarter but Stevens tacked on another seven to put the game away.
Senior
Jake Lynch (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) recorded a hat-trick while
Joe Fornataro (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) added three points as well from two goals and an assist.
Ian Chedzoy (Watkins Glen, NY/Watkins Glen) was 7-12 on faceoffs to lead the Saxons while
David LaSpina (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) posted a team-high six ground balls.
Alfred University was plagued by penalties with eight for a total of seven minutes.
Drew Gardner (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) had seven saves in three quarters while
Chris Doktor (Irondequoit, NY/Eastridge) had three in the fourth quarter.
The Saxons will next end their regular season with an away game at Utica College on Saturday, April 28 at 1PM.
