HOBOKEN, NJ – The Alfred University men's basketball team fell to host Stevens Institute of Technology Friday evening 78-63 at the Canavan Arena.

The Saxons (15-6, 8-4 Empire 8) were led by junior forward
Sage Brown (Cortland, NY/Cortland) as he finished with a double-double (13 points, 12 rebounds) while adding four assists on the night. Senior forward
Tristin Hook (Red Bank, NJ/Middletown North) led the team in points with 18 points coming off the bench. Junior guard
Dom LeMorta (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glennville) chipped in 17 points.

Brown started the scoring off as he drove the lane for the layup. The Ducks (17-5, 11-2 Empire 8) found some offense, gaining an early 15-2 advantage. Alfred answered by closing the gap to eight with Hook scoring his first four points in that span. Stevens maintained the lead for the rest of the half as they took at 43-31 advantage into halftime.

Alfred was able to cut the deficit to six in the first five minutes of the second half as LeMorta nailed his jumper from beyond the arc, making it 45-49 with 15:34 to play in regulation. Stevens answered as
Jason Winick made his layup on the ensuing possession. The Ducks were able to keep a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game.

Spencer Cook led the way for Stevens as he scored 15 points with seven rebounds. Winick added 12 points and seven rebounds, respectively.

Stevens held the advantage in points off turnovers (16-13) while Alfred held the edge in points in the paint (38-36).

The Saxons look to rebound as the head to The Sage Colleges tomorrow, February 10, to take on the Gators with tip-off at 2 PM to stay in contention for post-season play.
