BRADFORD, PA – The Alfred University men's swimming & diving team defeated University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on the road on Friday evening, 119-53 to pick up its first dual meet win of the early, 2018-19 campaign.
The Saxons had three distance freestylers in the 1,000-yard freestyle to finish, one-two-three as the first individuals to score points.
Ian Evans (Hornell, NY/Hornell) led the way with a time of 11:33.00 for first place. He was followed by
Justin Jarmer (Flagstaff, AZ/Northland Preparatory Academy) with his 11:37.02 and
A.J. Specchio (Watkins Glen, NY/Watkins Glen) with an 11:50.91.
Noah Koltenuk (Danville, PA/Danville Area) was the next Saxon winner with a 1:52.73 in the 200-yard freestyle.
Andy Edmister (Belmont, NY/Genesse Valley Central) was next up for a 'W' as he took first in the 50-free with a time of 23.28.
Alfred University had another one-two-three finish as
Ethan Zyglocke (Livonia, NY/Livonia),
Ryan Brown (Olean, NY/Olean) and
Tyler Kemmet (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) swept the 200-individual medley. Zyglocke marked a 2:13.14, Brown finished with a 2:14.55 and Kemmet rounded out with a 2:21.43 on Friday's event.
Vincent Tamplain (Luling, LA/Hahnville) won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.84, Koltenuk picked up a top finish with a 52.54 first place finish in the 100-free while Edmister rounded out the Saxon, non-exhibition wins with a 55.54 in the 100-back.
The Saxons will next head to Buffalo, NY to compete at Canisius College on Saturday, November 2 at 3PM.
