PITTSFORD, NY – The Alfred University women's soccer team ran into a tough Nazareth College team on Saturday afternoon. The Saxons (8-4, 2-2 Empire 8) fell by a score of 1-0.
AU was able to muster up just one shot on goal during a game where there were few opportunities to get on the board. The first half went scoreless for both teams, as it was 0-0 heading into the break.
The Golden Flyers were able to break through early in the second half on a goal from Kate Ordway to break the scoreless tie. Although the Saxons would allow no more scoring, the offense was unable to return fire, making the one goal enough for a Nazareth victory.
"Today was a tough game. The team came out flat and had trouble connecting,"
Head Coach Craig Yanni said.
Emily Wright (Dallas, TX/ Plano West) had one shot on goal for Alfred while
Makenzie Cashmer (Weedville, PA/ Elk County Catholic) was strong in goal with six saves on the day.
AU will have a quick turnaround, as they will host a tough Stevens team Sunday afternoon at 12PM.
