ALFRED, NY -- Alfred University's Lauren Serotta (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) was named the Empire 8 Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon after a stellar meet on Friday.

Sophomore Serotta won three races against Nazareth College. She picked up wins in the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.63), 200-yard backstroke (2:16.82) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:04.12). She also teamed with Olivia Piazza (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads), Shaelyn McClaughry (Somerville, NJ/Somerville) and Caitlin Behr (Beach Haven, NJ/Southern Regional) in the 200-yard medley relay to take second with an overall time of 2:00.05. Serotta's opening backstroke leg as the fasted in the pool as she swam a 28.88 50-yard split with the next fastest being 30.17.

Serotta and the Saxons will next face a two-meet weekend with an away dual match and a home dual match on Friday, November 2 and Saturday, November 3. Alfred University will first travel to the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford for a 5PM meet start before they host William Smith College on Saturday at 1PM in Lebohner Pool. Saturday's meet will be the women only.
