ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men's swimming & diving team fell to Nazareth College on Friday evening in its home-opener in Lebohner Pool, 175-125.

"We have some good depth swimmers from our first-years and sophomores and we're trying to fill some big holes that were left behind when we had guys graduate who contributed to this program for the past four years," Head Coach
Brian Striker said. "I think we are in a much better place, today, than we were five days ago at RIT.

Sophomore
Noah Koltenuk (Danville, PA/Danville Area) was the first Saxon to pick up an individual win as he swam a 10:20.02 in the 1,000-yard freestyle. His time was over half a minute faster than the rest of the five-swimmer race. Koltenuk's second win was AU's third of the evening as he swam a 4:57.27 for the decisive victory in the 500-yard freestyle.

Senior
Chris Deaver (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) also picked up a pair of wins on the diving boards. He won the 3-meter with a score of 311.80 while taking the short board with a 293.65. He was 7.01 points away from breaking his own school record on the 3-meter board, with one botched dive on the evening.

Andy Edmister (Belmont, NY/Genesee Valley Central) earned an Alfred University win as he nearly broke two minutes in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:00.24, defeating Nazareth's Tom Griffin and his 2:02.09 mark.

The Saxons will next head to Bradford, PA to face the Panthers of University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on Friday, November 2 at 5PM.
