BUFFALO, NY – The Alfred University men's soccer team traveled to Buffalo on Tuesday night for a non-conference matchup with Buffalo State College. The Saxons (5-12, 4-2 Empire 8) were able to convert a late penalty kick to send the game into overtime, but ultimately fell to the Bengals by a score of 3-2.

Buffalo State was able to get on the board early with a goal from Theo Pencic to grab a 1-0 lead. The Bengals would hold that lead until the second half whenÂ
Zachary Gloskin (New City, NY/Clarkstown South)Â scored on a feed fromÂ
Bobby Saucier (
Rocky Hill, CT/Rocky Hill)Â to tie the game at one all.Â

Buffalo State would regain the advantage in the 60
thminute when Pencic scored once again. The Saxons would get a chance to tie it up in the final minutes whenÂ
Kalum Holbrook (Atlanta, NY/Wayland-Cohocton) would get a penalty kick opportunity. Holbrook would go on to convert the kick and send the game into overtime.Â

Pencic would complete the hat trick in the overtime period for Buffalo State at the 96:51 mark to send AU home with a tough 2-3 loss.Â

Gloskin finished with two shots on goal to lead the Saxons whileÂ
Joe Gonzalez (Marion, NY/Marion)Â made eight saves on the evening.Â

Again we played with Saxon pride and we are ready for a challenge this weekend versus St. John Fisher in the final E8 game before the playoffs."

Alfred will be back home on Saturday for its Saxon for Saxon game against St. John Fisher College. The seniors will also be honored prior to the start of the game at 1PM. Â
