GENESEO, NY – The Alfred University women's volleyball team took a set from the Knights of SUNY Geneseo on Tuesday evening but fell, overall, 3-1.

The Saxons (1-15, 1-2 Empire 8) loss with set scores of 14-25, 26-24, 10-25 and 15-25. They were led by
Amber Smith (Penfield, NY/Webster Schroeder) with 10.0 points from 10 kills.
Sarah Raeman (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) followed with 6.5 points from five kills, one block solo and one block assist.

"Geneseo is a tough serving team; arguably the toughest we have seen," Head Coach
Dakota Pruiss said. "We weren't able to do some of the things that we were hoping to execute due to that but I think we responded well to the difficulties they gave us."

Both
Amanda Burns (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) and
Karina Morling (Canisteo, NY/Canisteo-Greenwood) had 5.0 points. Burns had four aces and one kill while Morling had five kills.
Sarah Huzyk (North Chili, NY/Churchville-Chili) tied Burns in aces with four herself as she also led the Saxons with 17 digs.
Elisabeth Estep (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) followed with 12 digs. Burns led Alfred University with 19 set assists.

During the second set, the Saxons were down 24-23. First-year
Samara-Jade Mok (Ramstein-Miesenbach, Germany/Ramstein) got a kill to tie the set at 24 and to start the 3-0 run to claim the second. After Mok's kill, Burns connected with Estep and Raeman for the 25
th and 26
th points, respectively off of kills.

The Saxons will next pick back up Empire 8 action as they head to Troy, NY for a crossover match at The Sage Colleges against the host at 11am and St. John Fisher College at 1:30pm on Saturday, October 6.
