ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men's soccer team fell to visiting University of Findlay Saturday evening, 1-0 at Yunevich Stadium.
 
The Saxons (0-1, 0-0 Empire 8) proved to be difficult opponents for the Division ll Oilers as the lone goal of the match came in the 87^th minute of play as both teams were both stout defensively.
 
Alfred's back line a great game as senior Sam Craver (Great Falls, VA/The Field School)and junior Brennan Jelstrom (Loudonville, NY/Shaker) led the way.  When asked about the effort shown by his players, head coach Tracy Blake said "Fantastic game. We held our own against a very good Division ll program."
 
Findlay held the advantage in shots, 20-4, as well as corner kicks, 5-1.
 
Senior Chris Gutierrez (Holbrook, NY/Sachem East) stopped some tough shots as he made eight saves on nine shots faced.
 
The Saxons next play Thursday, Sept. 7, at 7 p.m. at SUNY Brockport.
